"May have to reduce their asking price" – Journalist drops fresh Tottenham exit claim on 26 y/o

Tottenham might have to reconsider their valuation for Harry Winks, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Having made less than 20 Premier League starts in the last two seasons, Taylor is unsure about the north Londoners demanding £25m for his services.

Winks was once a key part of the Spurs midfield, establishing himself as a regular under Mauricio Pochettino, who handed him his debut as an 18-year-old.

But the 26-year-old, who’s turned out 203 times for his boyhood club, has failed to kick on in recent years, with his game-time reducing significantly following the arrivals of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur and emergence of Oliver Skipp.

Winks made just nine Premier League starts last term and played only 65 minutes in the last 13 top-flight games as Antonio Conte’s side qualified for the Champions League.

As a result, the Daily Mail believe that Tottenham have put the England international up for sale, with the report stating that he will cost potential buyers £25m.

But Taylor reckons the Spurs hierarchy might have to lower their valuation for Winks, who’s not played for his country since November 2020.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Spurs may have to reduce their asking price potentially to move him on. Probably £20m would be realistic, he’s still a good player, but £25m might be a bit steep.”

Previously, Winks has been linked with a move away from the Premier League, with The Times reporting ahead of the recent January window that he would be ‘open’ to signing for a foreign club.

That came nine months after Valencia were keen on bringing him to La Liga in January 2020, a switch that was blocked by Jose Mourinho.
