"Insiders say..." - Journalist drops major Tottenham and Richarlison update

Tottenham are in pole position to sign Everton forward Richarlison, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Jones reckons that Spurs are still favourites to make the Brazilian their fourth summer signing despite potential competition from Arsenal, with their hopes of signing Raphinha quickly fading.

According to reports in Brazil, Tottenham are edging closer to signing the 25-year-old, with talks between the two clubs heading in a ‘positive’ direction.

Spurs looked set to face competition from Chelsea, but they’ve decided to pursue deals for Raheem Sterling and Raphinha, which has given Antonio Conte’s side a free run at the Everton star’s signature.

Despite several players being mentioned in a potential swap deal, including Harry Winks and Steven Bergwijn, journalist Bruno Andrade reckons that Tottenham will pay Everton £60m in a straight cash deal, with talks ‘well underway’.

Furthermore, Jones reckons there’s unlikely to be any threat from Arsenal, who remain in the market for a winger after falling behind Chelsea in the race for Raphinha, who’s on the verge of making the switch to Stamford Bridge for £55m.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Richarlison is not one that Arsenal have made much progress on. On that situation, insiders say Spurs are very much leading the race to sign him at the moment.”
