Max Verstappen outlines the goals he has for the rest of his Formula 1 career

Max Verstappen has said he is more motivated than ever to try and win more world championships, but that he hopes to enjoy external factors around the race weekends more too.

The Dutchman appears to have another shot at the title this season as he takes on Charles Leclerc and Ferrari up at the top of the standings.

Certainly, it’s shaping up to be another intriguing and exciting battle, following on from the 2021 season which delivered drama aplenty, and Max says that he is more motivated than ever to try and add to his championship tally.

The Dutchman admits, though, that he is also trying to just enjoy the whole event around a Grand Prix weekend that bit more, too, now he has achieved world champion status:

“I’ve already said that if I win a championship, my goal in F1 is achieved, and anything else that comes after is a bonus, and I will enjoy it,” Verstappen told CNN.

“It’s not like, ‘I’ve won a Championship now, so let’s go party here, and let’s go party there’, and not be motivated. I think my motivation is even higher now to try to achieve that feeling or try to feel the same thing again.

“At the same time, it’s also more about trying to enjoy the weekends when you are away, and trying to spend a bit of time away from the F1 paddock and see the city more.”

The F1 circus travels around the world but when you’re in the paddock you can sometimes miss seeing what the location you’re in has to offer.

That’s as true for the drivers as for anyone else and so you can understand Max’s standpoint.

Make no mistake, though, he’ll be as determined as ever to try and become a double world champion.
