Max Verstappen gives Albert Park circuit changes early thumbs up
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen says that he cannot wait to be racing in Australia again this weekend and he reckons the changes they have made to the circuit’s layout should improve the level of overtaking in general.
The Dutchman has had a fairly strong start to the campaign, with him bouncing back in impressive style from his retirement in Bahrain with a late win after a duel with Charles Leclerc in Saudi Arabia.
Certainly, it looks as though Max is once again in the title fight this year and he’ll be pleased about that, whilst F1 fans will no doubt be delighted it appears we have another strong battle ahead of us with Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez all showing they could be involved in the tussle.
The Australian Grand Prix should be another eventful one this weekend, then, and Verstappen has explained that he can’t wait to be tearing around Albert Park, whilst the new track layout with extra high-speed blasts should generate more overtaking.
“I am really looking forward to racing in Australia again, it’s been a while,” said Verstappen.
“The atmosphere is always so good there too.
“It will be interesting to see the track updates, I think they will make quite a big difference, especially in turn six where the most significant change has happened.
“There should be more overtaking opportunities now too which is always positive.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how the car performs in Australia, the track can sometimes be quite dusty.
“I hope we can have another smooth weekend as a team so let’s see what happens on Sunday.”
Verstappen has never won in Australia so he will be keen to check that off of his personal F1 bucket list this weekend.
