Max Stryjek handed SFA ban for 'smashing' Aberdeen's Vicente Besuijen as Livingston dealt blow

Livingston goalkeeper Max Stryjek has been handed a two-game ban by the SFA following the win over Aberdeen.

The stopper avoided a red card after he threw the ball and his hand into the face of Dons wide man Vicente Besuijen.

The Lions' stopper had collected the ball from a corner and the clash occurred as he looked to throw the ball out of the penalty box.

Rather than punish the Livingston player, referee Grant Irvine punished with a booking Besuijen for his reaction to the incident.

And the SFA have now stepped in to sanction the 25-year-old.

A Livingston club statement read: "The club can confirm that goalkeeper Max Stryjek has been served with a notice of complaint from the SFA following Saturday's 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

"The club have accepted the offer of a two-match ban which Max will serve with immediate effect."

Following the full-time whistle Dons' boss Jim Goodwin insisted the decision was clear-cut. He said: "The goalkeeper smashes Vinnie in the face. I think that should be a penalty and a red card.
