Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski tease a trilogy fight is in the works
Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway have hinted that their long-awaited trilogy fight may finally be on the horizon.
Over the course of the last few years we’ve seen two featherweights dominate the division above all others in the UFC – Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski. They’ve both been champion and they’ve both picked up big wins over other members of the top 15, but the defining rivalry for these warriors thus far has been the one they share with each other.
Back at UFC 245 in December 2019, Volkanovski shocked the world and beat Holloway via unanimous decision to capture the strap at 145 pounds. Then, just seven months later, they ran it back on Fight Island with ‘The Great’ just about retaining the championship thanks to a controversial split decision.
They were initially scheduled to battle it out once more at UFC 273 but an injury to ‘Blessed’ opened the door for The Korean Zombie to take his place.
Now, however, the following declarations have been made on Twitter to seemingly confirm that a fight is imminent between the two foes.
