Max George says 'feels weird to watch' as he's supported over heart surgery 'journey'
Max George shared new videos with fans as he was "looking back" at his time in hospital as a "reminder of the journey" during his recovery from heart surgery.
The Wanted singer revealed last December that he suddenly started to feel unwell and doctors found a "block" in his heart when he arrived at the hospital, which meant that it was beating to an abnormal rhythm. In his Instagram post he wrote: "Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was."
The 36-year-old announced he'd been "given the best Christmas present" he could have wished for as his pacemaker surgery was successful. He declared that the operation took around two and half hours: "The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go."
Max thanked the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS and has since regularly updated fans on his journey to recovery now that he's back home, including spending time with his family and dog, Albert, who he took on a walk after leaving the hospital. He shared: "Beautiful day with my beautiful boy. Feeling pretty good right now!"
Since then, Max updated his followers once again by posting two videos to his Instagram. The first video is him on the hospital bed as he says: "So it's about two in the morning and the snoring in here is mega. You probably can't hear it because of the huge fan" before he jokingly replicated the snoring sounds.
Exhausted, he continued: "I feel whacked, but beats per minute are 32 so I'm not exactly feeling rock and roll right now." A normal resting heart rate for an adult is anywhere between 60-100 beats per minute (bpm).
