Max Boruc in fired-up Hibs mantra as former club will 'regret' transfer but he's NEVER spoken to cousin Artur

Max Boruc claims Polish club Slask Wroclaw will regret letting him leave to join Hibs.

The Easter Road keeper has an opportunity to stake a claim to be Lee Johnson’s No.1 after injuries to David Marshall and Jojo Wollacott. Both goalies limped out of the Conference League qualifying win over Inter d’Escaldes on Thursday night – before Boruc stepped up to the plate. He could start Hibs’ Premiership opener against St Mirren today after a faultless display in Europe.

And after feeling under- appreciated at Slask last term, he’s delighted to feel loved again in Edinburgh. Boruc, who had spells in England at Stoke and West Brom, said: “I wasn’t expecting too much from this season. It’s my first time back in the UK after two years in Poland. I just wanted to get back into the system and get to know my new team-mates. But I think this shows that my club in Poland made a mistake. They didn’t appreciate me but here I come.

“I want to show myself in a good style so they have something to think about back in Poland. Why did they not appreciate me? That’s a question for them. But it definitely disappointed me. It made me mentally and physically stronger.

“Maybe it was a good thing because you never know what comes round the corner. I’m enjoying myself here, that’s the most important thing. The Hibs fans were good on Thursday night, amazing. That’s what we need in all of the games. They helped us win so it was a big effort.

“I’ve had lots of support here. From the first day when I arrived, I had a good connection with everybody, the whole club. Everyone was welcoming. Now I’m just doing my best by working hard in training and on the pitch.”

Boruc – cousin of former Celtic and Poland No.1 Artur Boruc – enjoyed a whirlwind 24 hours
