Matt O'Riley sold on Celtic 'in 5 minutes' as star's dad reveals the power of Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou made Matt O'Riley certain to seal a move to Celtic in just five minutes, according to the midfielder's dad.

O'Riley joined Celtic from the MK Dons in a £1.5 million January move and has been an instant hit on the park.

Following the switch, his dad Dom has lifted the lid on the behind the scenes talks that sealed the midfielder's Parkhead arrival.

O'Riley had intended to pose a string of questions to Postecoglou ahead of signing, but was more than impressed as the manager answered them before they were even asked.

Speaking to The Athletic, O'Riley Sr revealed: "Before signing, Matt said, ‘I’m going to have a chat with the manager first’.

"He had a list of questions and then came out five minutes later and said ‘Yep, I’m going. I just know. He answered every question before I asked it’. He’s so happy about it."

With David Turnbull still sidelined, O’Riley has been battling it out with Tom Rogic for a regular spot in the team.

Despite the fight to the XI every week, Dom states the close knit Celtic Park dressing room has helped Matt to feel content with life in Glasgow.

He added: "You’ll get ups and downs, because of the non-stop attention on you.

"The team all get on very well, there’s no egos, he just feels really happy.

"And it feels like we have been here for a lot longer than five weeks — or less than that!"

O'Riley has already made 10 appearances for Celtic - scoring once with his side in prime position at the summit of the Scottish Premiership with just nine games remaining.
