Mathys Tel joins Bayern: What happened to the 20 most expensive U17 players?

Mathys Tel has officially completed his move from Stade Rennais to Bayern Munich.

The 17-year-old will cost an initial fee of €20 million, with €8.5 million in add-ons also inserted into the deal.

A total package value of €28.5 million makes Tel the most expensive footballer in history aged 17 or under.

Ramsey went on to be a star at Arsenal, famously scoring in two FA Cup finals. The Welsh icon is currently at Juventus, where the going has been far tougher for him.

18. Pedro Neto to Lazio, 2017/18 (£6.75 million loan fee)

Neto spent two seasons on loan at Lazio before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2019. The 23-year-old has excelled on English shores and is now a full Portugal international.

17. Anderson to Porto, 2004/05 (£7.20 million)

Remember him? Anderson joined Manchester United for big money after smashing it at Porto, but was a bit of a flop at Old Trafford truth be told. He called time on his playing career in 2020 after a spell with Adana Demirspor.

16. Alexander Isak to Borussia Dortmund, 2016/17 (£7.74 million)

Isak is now at Real Sociedad, where he’s establishing himself as a star after
