Matheus Cunha teases Manchester United move after answering blunt transfer question

Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha has provided an update on his future amid links to Manchester United.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after a string of impressive displays for Wolves last season. Cunha netted 12 Premier League goals in 32 games for Gary O'Neil's team, finishing as the club's top-scorer.

Earlier in the window, The Mirror reported that scouts at United had consistently tracked Cunha throughout the 2023/24 campaign. Erik ten Hag only has one recognised striker in Rasmus Hojlund and a new forward is expected to be prioritised this summer.

It's said that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is willing to double Cunha's £60,000-a-week wage at Molineux in his efforts to sign the 25-year-old. Fortunately for United, Wolves are one of many teams who may be forced to sell players to avoid PSR breaches, and Cunha could be one of their assets allowed to leave.

Cunha, who surprisingly missed out on a place in Brazil's Copa America squad, is currently enjoying his summer ahead of pre-season. And a video has since emerged online of him being questioned about whether he will be joining United with friends.

After saying his friend should be 'political', Cunha said: "You know it's a real honour to have your name linked to Manchester United. One of the biggest clubs in the world.

"But I'm happy at Wolves. If I'm lucky, I play another good season, but the window is open, you never know."
