Match of the Day fear one outcome for Premier League title race on final day

Match of the Day's Mark Chapman has voiced concerns over the nail-biting climax to the Premier League title race, describing it as a "nightmare" for the programme's editors.

The gripping contest for supremacy between Arsenal and Manchester City is set to go down to the wire on Sunday (May 19), in what is shaping up to be the most intense finale since Guardiola's team clinched the championship in 2022.

On that occasion, City secured victory with a dramatic second-half fightback to defeat Aston Villa 3-2, narrowly edging out Liverpool for the top spot.

As history threatens to repeat itself this coming Sunday, Guardiola's squad will host West Ham at the Etihad Stadium. However, City could ease their path to triumph if they manage to secure a win against Tottenham on Tuesday (May 14), which would put them two points clear of the Gunners before the season's final showdown.

On BBC Radio 5 Live Sport's The Monday Night Club, Rory Smith joined Match of the Day 2 presenter Mark Chapman to dissect the riveting Premier League title chase. Smith suggested that neutral supporters might be hoping for a stalemate between City and Spurs, raising the possibility that the championship could be decided on goal difference, reports the Mirror.
