The final act of what is a quite stunning sporting weekend will involve one very special golfer being awarded a much coveted green jacket at Augusta.

A day after the winner of the Grand National has been cheered to the Aintree rafters and just a few hours after the Premier League's top-two sides, Manchester City and Liverpool, have served up a frustrating 0-0 draw that does neither any favours, the eyes of the sporting world will switch focus to the southeastern state of Georgia, home of the unilaterally famous Augusta National Golf Club.

So who will be fighting out that final round on Sunday? Well, from a TV ratings perspective there is no better-case scenario that going into that final round with a shot at glory. It would be quite a story, likely the best go ever told in the game of golf, but it's surely too much to ask and his tournament participation is still to be confirmed.

New world number one is unquestionably the form horse. A winner of three of his last five tournaments, Scheffler's star is firmly in the ascendancy but with that comes a level of pressure and expectation that he has never before experienced. He'll do extremely well to justify his position near the top of the market.

So too will the man Scheffler deposed at the top of the world rankings, . The Spaniard has posted four successive top-ten Augusta finishes but he's winless since last year's US open and putting frailties continue to frustrate him.

If can find his best putting form, he has the game to topple Augusta and he's gone well at the track before having finished fourth in 2020, but he has fallen short in the big events more often than not and he's another at the top of the market that doesn't really offer any value.
