Mason Mount doubt as Christian Eriksen named in Manchester United's 'ideal midfield'
Christian Eriksen still merits a place in Manchester United's midfield ahead of Mason Mount, according to Paul Parker who is doubtful of what the summer signing's best position is.
Mount joined United from Chelsea for an initial £55m transfer fee. He became the first signing of the summer for Erik ten Hag's side and has featured regularly in pre-season.
Typically last season when United operated with a central midfield trio, Casemiro shielded the back four and Bruno Fernandes, now full-time United captain, was pushed further forward. Eriksen was often the third player Ten Hag turned to in the engine room.

With the signing of Mount, out of the aforementioned trio it would seem that Eriksen would be the most likely player to make way for the new arrival. However, former United defender Parker is not convinced.
Parker believes Eriksen still belongs in Ten Hag's ideal midfield trio and remains a top-quality player. Despite being a good addition, the retired defender is unsure what position suits Mount best.
Speaking to Sportbonuskode, Parker said: “It's an interesting one with Christian Eriksen because if we look at the things he is good at, he is the best player in the squad. He is the best player in terms of ball retention, being a playmaker and his vision is out of this world.
“You can't compare him and Mason Mount because they are two different players. I've said it multiple times before, I don't know what Mason Mount's best position is and I don't know what he can contribute
