Mason Mount £67.5m decison puts Chelsea and Marina Granovskaia in tricky contract situation

Chelsea fans hope to see Mason Mount as captain one day, yet somehow, if the board does not act now, we may even see him leave in 2024.

Rather unlikely, I know, however, we’ve come across several situations where Chelsea have chosen to play the long game rather than do what is necessary. Antonio Rudiger’s contract situation is probably the best scenario to take a look at.

N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Marcos Alonso all have contracts that will run out at the end of next season. Chelsea will need a plan of action for these three players whilst they simultaneously learn from their mistakes.

Tying Mount down for at least four more years is non-negotiable for Chelsea fans, so it must be for Marina Granovskaia and the board.

To be honest with you, I cannot imagine as anything other than a Chelsea player. It just wouldn’t feel right. The 23-year-old England international bleeds blue and will most likely prefer a long career in West London. He’d probably look to replicate John Terry’s unique legacy.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are already looking towards opening contract negotiations this early on. They would prefer to avoid any problems.

It's a good move from Granovskaia’s team. The Chelsea faithful may have been forgiving with the Antonio Rudiger saga, however, I do not expect them to be so merciful if this falls through. Throughout the years, the Chelsea fanbase has had their voices heard louder than I could have imagined.
