Mason and Ellison appointed BSB Junior Rider Advisors

Former British Superbike contenders James Ellison and Gary Mason will be passing on their years of experience throughout the 2022 season as the pair join MSVR to coach HEL Performance British Junior Supersport Championship riders.

Ellison, a race-winner in the Superbike class, and Mason, a podium finisher in BSB, will be working closely with MSVR to supervise the junior riders as they begin the early stages of their racing careers.

At each round, all riders will take part in a pre-event track walk and Ellison and Mason, who will also be on the hand observing sessions and providing feedback.

In their role as Junior Rider Advisors, they will also be acting as a liaison between the Race Direction and the junior riders with the aim of developing rider standards and competence in this important pathway class.

Ellison said: “I am really excited to be working alongside my good friend and former teammate Gary Mason to help the next generation of young talented racers learn from our years of experience in just about every championship going.

“I’ve always tried to help out the youngsters over the years, even when I was racing full time as I had people like Mike ‘Spike’ Edwards helping me in my early years and Roger Marshall in recent years doing the same for me, so I know how beneficial it is to fast tracking to a great career. I can’t wait to get started at Silverstone.”

Mason added: “I am really excited to be part of the paddock again and working with my good friend and ex-teammate James Ellison to help the next generation of young talented racers learn from our years of experience.
