Martin Odegaard in shellshock as Arsenal icon claims Scotland 'didn't play a great match'

A dejected Martin Odegaard reckons Scotland "didn't create anything" in the aftermath of Steve Clarke's side's sensational late comeback win to take another step towards Euro 2024 qualification.

Scotland lead Group A and a staggering eight points clear of tonight's opponents after many thought they would be the main rivals for second place. Erling Haaland's penalty opened the scoring in the second half and the game hit a lull before Lydon Dykes and Kenny McLean scored two late goals to maintain the side's perfect start in the group, with nine points from three games.

Despite one of those wins seeing Spain toppled at Hampden, Norway were the bookie's favourites pre-match yet the Tartan Army remained quietly confident, knowing fine well what this side are capable of. When speaking post-match one of Norway's stars, Martin Odegaard, wasn't exactly forthcoming with praise for the side who just stunned him in his home stadium, echoing the sentiment of Spain's Rodri after their defeat at Hampden.

Speaking to Viaplay, when quizzed post-match about his thoughts on Scotland's performance after his side blew their lead in the final three minutes of normal time, he said: "To be honest, I didn’t think they played a great game.

"But, as you say, they have a good team spirit, they fight for each other and they stick together and they fight until the end, so, credit to them. But, I think today we were the better team so it’s a tough one to take."

The Arsenal midfielder also added: "It’s hard to sum up, to be honest. We didn’t play a great game but I thought we controlled everything defensively without the ball, they didn’t create anything.

"We had the lead with a few minutes to go so it shouldn’t happen.
