Martin Lewis ends social media silence amid career 'break' to address concerns over 'glitch'

Martin Lewis has interrupted his week-long social media hiatus to address concerns over a reported glitch: "It's nothing to do with us."

The Money Saving Expert founder took to Twitter, now known as X, following reports that users clicking on adverts were being redirected to his website's car finance misselling tool.

The ITV regular posted: "Twitter Glitch? We've been alerted that some people are clicking adverts and being sent to @MoneySavingExp Car finance reclaiming guide. This is nowt to do with us. We think its related to a X Community Note saying you could do it via MSE for free and now it seems to link to us."

"We're trying to contact X about it, "he continued, before adding: "PS back to my week off social media now, just wanted to get this message out as a lot of people have been contacting us about it.", reports Birmingham Live.

In response, one follower commented: "Surprised to find I'm not the only one, but at least it doesn't keep sending us to underdressed ladies."

Another user observed: "Yeah I noticed that yesterday. It's some advert about a company that can do the legwork on a diesel claim and MSE are in the community note... but even when I've refresh, I still tap some images and it opens the link,".

One individual speculated: "Actually I think X is ripping off advertisers by pretending users have clicked in the app even if they haven't... happens to me multiple times a day."

Meanwhile, another queried: "When I click on photos it keeps loading this article. Do you run affiliate programme? Wonder if someone is abusing something to send traffic to the page".
