Martin Brundle reveals what change he's noticed about Charles Leclerc in 2022

Martin Brundle believes that Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is now at a higher level than he has been at before in Formula 1, with the championship leader now 34 points clear at the top of the standings.

The Monegasque has had a stellar start to the campaign this year and whilst Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz have had retirements, and Mercedes have been off of the pace, he has struck the perfect tone of speed and consistency, leaving him streaking away clear of the pack.

Of course, it’s still early days in the season but he does look as though he is going to be in the title conversation for the rest of the campaign at the very, very least, and he will surely realise that he now has a golden opportunity this year.

Certainly, Brundle is impressed with what Leclerc has been doing so far this season, with him having this to say:

“Leclerc has stepped up to a higher plane, delivering speed with consistency and seemingly always a half a step ahead of this car, rather than close to the edge of the car’s limit and the occasional heavy shunt as we’ve seen in the past,” the former F1 driver said in his Sky Sports column.

“The new regulations suit him and he’s developed confidence and increased self-belief.

“Two pole positions, two wins, a second, and three fastest laps in three races rather confirms that.”
