Marti Cifuentes next Hearts manager hands off warning issued as Hammarby chief has 'no intention' of changing boss

Hammarby have told Hearts to cough up or forget about appointing Marti Cifuentes as their new boss.

The Jambos board are currently assessing their situation and who they want to appoint as Robbie Neilson's successor, following a fourth-placed Premiership finish. Interim gaffer Steven Naismith looked likely to land the job permanently but Hearts are also looking at external candidates, with Cifuentes one on their radar.

He is currenly in charge of the Swedish top flight club and Hammarby chief executive Richard von Yxkull has insisted they want the Spaniard to stay, despite rumblings of fan unrest. A compensation fee would 'likely to run well into six figures' according to the Edinburgh Evening News. Yxkull explained: "Sure, we want to keep him. He is our head coach and we have great co-operation with him. If they [Hearts] want him, of course I would have to discuss this with our board. It would depend on the will of Marti but right now we have no intention to part with Marti.

"We have 100 per cent confidence in him and we want to keep him as our head coach. If we were to end up in negotiation with another club, then yes. He is under contract with us."
