Marks and Spencer issues warning to shoppers over new WhatsApp scam
Marks and Spencer has issued a warning to customers following a rise in shopper-targeted scams.
The supermarket giant is urging shoppers to not share any personal details with a new scam aimed at tricking them into believing they're being offered two-for-one meals. As part of the scam, shoppers are sent an invite link that takes them to a third-party website which is designed to look like the M&S home page.
The website promises shoppers "free" offers including wine deals and family meals as part of a "giveaway celebration". Shoppers are then urged to enter their details including name, address, and email address and then pick one of nine hidden mystery boxes, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Users are then provided three attempts to win a meal. While the first result is an empty box, the second will be a prize.
Following this, customers are then urged to share the competition with their friends and family multiple times until a progress bar is full, demonstrating that they have issued enough invites to receive their prize details.

Responding to both users M&S wrote: "Thanks for reaching out. I can confirm this is a scam. Our team are aware and are taking appropriate action. I would advise not to click on the link and don’t share any personal details."
