Mark Warburton provides fresh update on QPR striker Lyndon Dykes

QPR have had to see out most of their games over the last few weeks without Lyndon Dykes leading the line, as the striker has been sidelined since the middle of February.

Whilst supporters might have been hoping for a return to action from the player soon, Mark Warburton has today revealed to West London Sport that he will still be out of action for their next two games.

The forward has managed 25 games so far this season and, as per usual for the 26-year-old, has been one of the Hoops main goal threats. With eight goals and two assists, he has stayed as their joint top goalscorer even with this latest injury.

Dykes though has had to sit out since his side’s 2-0 loss to Millwall and after nearly a month out of the team, it looks as though his return will still be a few weeks away yet. With the season getting more and more important now as the games come thick and fast, QPR fans would have been hoping to see him in the squad.

However, it looks as though they will have to continue to depend on Andre Gray for the time being. Whilst the striker has certainly done a decent job in the interim, they would no doubt like to either see Dykes partner the former Burnley man or come back into first-team contention and play upfront on his own.

Whilst he is getting closer to fitness though, Warburton has revealed to West London Sport that the Scotland man will not play a part over their next two fixtures. He said: “We will see how he is.

“We will miss Lyndon, but he is gym-based at the moment, will go to sports science and be eased back in to training slowly. We always want our players to go away at get international experience but if he is not fit for us he is not fit for Scotland.”
