Mark Allen breezes into Scottish Open second round
Mark Allen surged into the second round at the BetVictor Scottish Open after beating Hong Kong's Andy Lee 4-1 in Edinburgh.
The Belfast native and newly-crowned UK champion, fresh from winning his biggest title of his career, will meet England's Martin Gould in the last-64 after his victory in their opening round encounter.
But former world champion Stuart Bingham suffered a shock first-round defeat.
Bingham, who won the world title seven years ago, lost 4-3 to fellow Essex potter Zak Surety.
World number 97 Surety led 3-1 before Bingham recovered to set up a decider, but Surety compiled a brilliant break of 133 to claim an outstanding win.
Judd Trump did not drop a frame as he beat Sanderson Lam 4-0.
Jack Lisowski beat Gerard Greene 4-1 after breaks of 105, 89 and 93 saw him reel off three frames in succession to close out the match.
Elsewhere, Mark Williams knocked out Andres Petrov 4-1 with the help of two century breaks, and John Higgins defeated Anthony Hamilton 4-2, but defending Scottish Open champion Luca Brecel was an early casualty, losing 4-3 to Glaswegian Fraser Patrick.
