Marianne Vos turns tables on Charlotte Kool in sprint to win Stage 3 of La Vuelta Femenina and extend overall lead

Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) won a sprint finish against Charlotte Kool (Team DSM) to triumph at Stage 3 of La Vuelta Femenina and extend her overall lead to 13 seconds ahead of Chloe Dygert (Canyon-SRAM). Kool beat Vos to the line on Stage 2, but a day later the tables were turned with Vos showing off her wealth of experience to beat her Dutch compatiot to the line.

Ad Vos was initially sat on Kool's wheel but then chose a different line to the DSM rider once the sprint started with 200m to go and held off the challenge of Kool, with Dygert coming in third place. The days racing was characterised by echelons and crosswinds causing the peloton to split and multiple riders to miss out, most notably Gaia Realini (Trek Segafredo) and Kristen Faulkner (Jayco AlUla), who finished 2:41 behind the leaders.
