Margot Robbie’s Barbie movie: Release date, cast and everything we know so far

If you’ve been excited by the few snippets of the new Greta Gerwig directed Barbie movie over the past few weeks then you’re not alone. The internet has consistently been going into meltdown over Ryan Gosling’ peroxide blonde hair and the various outfits that we’ve seen him and Margot Robbie don so far.

With Academy-nominated writer and director Gerwig also working with her longtime partner Noah Baumbach on this one, it would be unwise to expect this to be a straight-up remake of the various small-screen adaptations of Barbie. It will most likely try to play with the ideas we have of Barbie in our heads.

But we’re going to have to wait a little while yet before we even get a look at a trailer for this much-anticipated film. Here is everything we know so far.

The good news is that there is a release date for the Barbie movie, but fans of the Mattel doll are going to have to wait until July 21, 2023 to see this live action film in theatres. However, if social media over the last few weeks is anything to go by we’re probably going to see lots of tactically leaked content to keep the film in the headlines between now and then.

Unsurprisingly the cast of the new Barbie film is stacked with talent, with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken respectively. But apart from that, there is little information about who else will appear in the film.

Will Ferrell is set to play the CEO of a toy company and there are rumours about who may play the other versions of the Ken doll. But we do know some famous faces will be making an appearance.
