Margate sign prolific striker Joe Taylor following his departure from Thanet rivals Ramsgate
Prolific striker Joe Taylor has swapped Ramsgate for Thanet rivals Margate.
Rams’ record goalscorer left Southwood before Christmas and has now returned to the club where he began his career.
The 34-year-old played through the age groups at Margate, progressing all the way to the first team in 2008, before starting the first of three spells at Ramsgate.
Margate are Taylor’s fourth club this season, having started the campaign with brief spells at Hornchurch and Billericay before rejoining the Rams, the club he captained to Isthmian South East glory last season.
“It feels good,” Taylor told Margate’s media team. “Walking through the door felt comfortable. I’ve done that walk a million times. I practically grew up at Hartsdown Park when I was younger.
“I did 10 years in the youth team and made my first-team debut here. I’ve had lots of good times here.
“Obviously, I’ve been over the other side of the island the last couple of years and done really well but it feels good.”
Margate, ninth in Isthmian South East, visit Herne Bay today.
