Margate player-manager Ben Greenhalgh warns his side against complacency as they look to extend eight-game unbeaten Isthmian South East run at home to bottom side East Grinstead Town
Player-boss Ben Greenhalgh won’t allow Margate to take their hapless weekend visitors lightly.
Greenhalgh’s promotion-chasing Isthmian South East side will welcome basement boys East Grinstead to Hartsdown Park on Saturday.
Margate are on an eight-game unbeaten streak while East Grinstead, now led by joint-managers Grant Hearn and Andy Willis after last month’s exit of Drew Cooney, have lost 12 games on the spin.
But Greenhalgh said: “When you see a fixture like that, it’s not ideal at all.
“Obviously, we want to have these games because, on paper, everyone is looking at it as three points. But at some point East Grinstead will have a reaction.
“I know they have changed their management team and they’re changing their side around, and we’re going to be mindful of that. We’re not going to show any complacency.
“At the same time, we need to focus on putting in another good home performance.”
An Ibrahim Olutade hat-trick helped Gate make the most of their numerical advantage as they won 7-3 at Erith Town following captain Dexter Peter’s first-half red card for a professional foul on striker Olutade last weekend.
It was a third consecutive success for Margate and takes Olutade to 13 goals for the campaign alongside Kane Haysman, who was also at the double at Erith.
