Marcus Rashford suffers 'sad end' at Man United as Roy Keane urges striker to leave after Amorim's brutal decision

Marcus Rashford's Manchester United career could be over, after boss Ruben Amorim's shock decision to leave the forward out of the Red Devils' squad for the Manchester derby

The England international and teammate Alejandro Garnacho have both been dropped entirely for the trip to face Pep Guardiola's out of form Manchester City, in a bold move from the former Sporting boss. And the former United star Roy Keane believes Rashford now needs to leave Old Trafford for the sake of his career - whilst fellow pundit, and former City defender, Micah Richards labelled the decision 'a sad end' to the 27-year-old's United career.

Speaking on Sky Sports prior to the game, Keane said: "It will be a big talking point because he’s been involved in all the other games. He’s [Amorim] obviously seen something that he doesn’t like. He’ll have had a clean slate since he’s come in, but he obviously doesn’t like what he’s seen off field or on field. It could be attitude, performances in training, the way they speak to staff.

"To leave him out the squad is a big call. But for us who have watched United recently it also isn’t that big a surprise. Both players have been poor, he’s probably said enough is enough to see how they react to the disappointment of being left out of the squad for a big game. It’s a big call from the manager, but I like to see it. He’s putting a marker down for the players and seeing how they react."

However the move was questioned by pundit Richards, who said: "Don’t you think that it’s pretty sad though? A local boy in Rashford is supposed to be the talisman in this team, so to see the way his career has materialised in the last couple of years. He’s had a couple of seasons where you think now is the time to be a leader.
