Marcus Rashford's brother hits back at Gary Neville and Co after comments about Man Utd star

Marcus Rashford's brother has hit back at Gary Neville and accused the Manchester United legend of fuelling "clickbait" stories about the struggling star.

Neville admitted on the Stick to Football podcast that he was genuinely "worried" for Rashford and claimed the England international "doesn't look happy." Ex-United defender Rio Ferdinand then suggested that Rashford, 26, could benefit from leaving his home city of Manchester or distancing himself from certain people in his personal life in order to rediscover his best form.

Fellow Old Trafford legend Roy Keane added that the attacker might benefit from "an old-fashioned kick up the a***," but questioned whether anyone inside the Red Devils' dressing room or any members of their coaching staff are capable of doing so. In response, the 26-year-old's brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, took to Instagram and told the pundits to "pick up the phone" rather than making their opinions public, reports the Mirror.

"I completely understand podcasts and how they work but if you have genuine concerns, pick up the phone," Maynard posted hours before Rashford was dropped to the bench for United's Premier League clash with Chelsea on Thursday.

"We know each other or have crossed paths. Airing so-called concerns for the public to have an opinion is bad mind and for clickbait in my eyes. The fun fact is that most of these shows or ex-pros have asked for exclusives."

Rashford's mum, Melanie Maynard, has came out to publicly defend her son. She said in the Times: "Marcus is human, so he will have ups and downs in his life like everyone else. Marcus is in a very good place, he will never let anyone down."
