Marcus Rashford makes 'fun' Man Utd comment after Aston Villa match but has one complaint

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford says Aston Villa gave Erik ten Hag's side a "fun" game at the Optus Stadium on Saturday - but he was less than impressed with the state of the pitch.

The pre-season friendly ended in a 2-2 draw as Villa came back from a two-goal deficit in the second half. Jadon Sancho opened the scoring for United in the first half, before Matty Cash scored an unfortunate own goal on the 42nd minute.

Leon Bailey's introduction before the start of the second period inspired Steven Gerrard's men to preserve their unbeaten pre-season record. The Jamaica international scored one and assisted another for Calum Chambers as the defender headed in from a corner in what was the final attack of the game.

It ended Villa's tour of Australia on a positive note following 1-0 wins over Leeds United and Brisbane Roar. United's tour also ended on Saturday in Perth, and United star Rashford claims that Villa gave ten Hag's side a good game, especially after half-time.

"The pitch wasn't the best but we tried to do our best," Rashford said. "It was a fun game. The first half we probably played better than in the second half but it was enjoyable.

"The pre-season as a whole was definitely a successful one and we can use these experiences. Even games like today, we conceded a goal on a counter-attack. We have to work on that.

"It's something that generally we've been quite good on throughout pre-season but it just shows we can't switch off."
