Marcos Rojo smoked a cigarette on the pitch after Boca Juniors' title win

Boca Juniors added yet another trophy to their enormous collection last Sunday evening.

The Argentine outfit defeated Tigre 3-0 to win the Copa de la Liga title, a hybrid league and playoff tournament that began back in February.

Goals from Marcos Rojo, Frank Fabra and Luis Vazquez secured Boca’s 50th domestic triumph.

The win also means that the Buenos Aires-based outfit have qualified for next season’s Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions League.

Rojo spent seven years at United after joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and went on to make 122 appearances for the club.

His spell in the north of England was hampered somewhat by a serious knee injury he sustained in a Europa League match against Anderlecht in 2017.

Rojo spent over six months on the treatment table and was never really able to regain a place in the starting XI on a permanent basis
