Marc Skinner issues warning as Manchester United Women look pull off Arsenal double

Manchester United welcome Arsenal to Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday night for a Women’s Super League title race showdown. The hosts are top of the league and sit three points clear of the Gunners in third place with title defenders Chelsea sandwiched in second.

Marc Skinner's side got the better of their visitors in the 3-2 last-minute win at the Emirates Stadium back in November in front of a 40,000-strong crowd. Captain Katie Zelem delivered two perfect set-play balls for Millie Turner and Alessia Russo to capitalise on in the dying stages to steal all three points.

Skinner said in a pre-match press conference: “I was really happy with our performance against Arsenal, we talk about the result because it is there as fact, but we played with bravery, we played without fear. It was a real awakening of when the pressure really gets there, are we able to stand up and be counted and we were. But I don't expect it to be the same type of game.

“What it [the win] did was give us a platform for the next run of results and performances and more importantly filled the belief. It was a token of all of our hard work.

“I don’t think it will be the same game as that wonderful night but I’m sure our fans can help to make it that.”
