Marc Cucurella has vowed to never cut his hair despite the controversy surrounding it after Chelsea’s draw with Tottenham last Sunday.

Deep into stoppage time at Stamford Bridge, with the score at 2-1, Cucurella was fouled in the box by Cristian Romero, after the Argentine had grabbed onto the Spaniard’s distinctive long hair and dragged him to the ground.

Neither the referee nor the VAR officials noticed the incident, and play continued with Harry Kane immediately equalising from the subsequent corner.

This sparked fury among the Chelsea players and their manager Thomas Tuchel, who would get involved in a confrontation with his opposite number Antonio Conte at the full-time whistle, before going onto blast the officials in his post-match interviews.

Cucurella, who joined Chelsea from Brighton in the summer for £62million, has now given his take on the matter, saying: ‘For me it was a clear [foul].

‘In the game, out on the pitch, I didn’t see the video. But I think with the video it is very clear. This is maybe one error by the referee or the VAR.

‘The referee in the stadium said they were checking a red card and for me, it’s very clear. The video is very clear. At this moment, with the referee, I don’t know what happened.

‘But sometimes the referee makes good decisions, sometimes not good decisions. This is football and, in this game, it was an error.

‘This is not my problem. The players are focused on the game and maybe we have to work hard to not concede this goal in the last minute in the next games.’
