Maple Leafs F Michael Bunting among Calder Trophy finalists

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Michael Bunting is among the three finalists announced Wednesday for the Calder Trophy.

Bunting is joined by Detroit defenseman Moritz Seider and forward Trevor Zegras of Anaheim for the NHL's rookie of the year trophy.

Bunting, 26, has three points (one goal, two assists) for the Maple Leafs in their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning. He had 63 points (23 goals, 40 assists) in 79 games during the regular season, leading all rookies.

Seider, 21, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 draft, was a bright spot for the Red Wings in an otherwise dreadful season. He finished with 50 points (seven goals, 43 assists) and 161 blocks in all 82 games. The Red Wings will pick eighth in the upcoming draft July 7-8. Detroit finished with 74 points.

Seider led all rookies in assists (43), power-play assists (19) and power-play points (21).

Zegras, 21, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2019 draft, finished with 61 points (23 goals, 38 assists) in 75 games. He had five game-winning goals for the Ducks, who will select 10th in this year's draft. Zegras set single-season franchise records for assists and points by a rookie.
