Manchester weather with rain forecast and temperatures to sharply drop

The weather across Greater Manchester will be very dreary today as grey skies and rain will be present for most of the morning, afternoon and evening.

It comes as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds which only stopped at 5am this morning. Heavy showers are expected to fall heavily both today and tomorrow as the temperatures begin to sit just above freezing.

This morning, the temperature will reach its lowest from 8am to 10am at 6C but will feel like 1C, with extremely high wind speeds dominating the morning, peaking at 42mph at 8am and only settling down slightly to 33mph by 12pm.

According to the Met Office, the North West of England is expected to be "Windy today with blustery showers and sunny spells. Showers could be wintry at times with sleet or hail. Feeling rather cold today in the blustery northerly wind. Maximum temperature 9C."

In the early afternoon, people in Manchester will get a small respite from the dark sky but heavy showers will still remain for most of the lunchtime hours. By 12pm, the temperature will begin to pick up slightly although it may be hard to feel the difference as it will still sit at a low level of 7C while feeling like 3C.

By the late afternoon, showers will ease up slightly as the heavy showers turn into light rain. Unfortunately, temperatures will begin to plummet again, reaching 6C by 6pm but feeling like 2C. Around this time the strong winds should also being to ease up significantly, dropping to 26mph by 6pm and to 20mph by 8pm.
