Manchester United youngster Will Fish wanted by Hibernian

Hibernian are plotting to re-sign Manchester United youngster Will Fish in the summer transfer window.

Fish signed a long-term contract at Old Trafford last year to keep him at the club until the summer of 2025, with the option of another year. The 20-year-old is a Manchester-born academy product and he's captained England up to U19 level.

The centre-back spent the season on loan with Hibernian in Scotland and he made 22 appearances across the campaign.

Fish, who travelled on the last pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, is currently enjoying the opportunity for a summer break, but he'll report back to Carrington in a few weeks' time and a decision on his future will be made.

The youngster is expected to leave on loan again and although Hibernian are understood to be interested in exploring a permanent deal, manager Lee Johnson has told the Daily Record he'd be happy with another loan transfer.

“I’d love to have Will and CJ back, as an example," he said. "They’re not our only loans but while I remember a media report suggesting we had too many loans, with some of these guys we have an option to turn it into a permanent and some we haven’t.

"That comes into play. I’d like to keep the stability, trim the fat and use the finances well to recruit quality. I’d rather lower the numbers and have higher quality. Then obviously if we’ve got good young players to supplement the squad."

The player recently thanked Hibernian for the opportunity on social media, writing: "Grateful for the opportunity to be able to play for this club, met some of the best people along the way. I wish everyone the best of luck for the future. Thank you."
