Manchester United welcome young trialist winger

Salford City winger Kelly N'Mai trialled for Manchester United's Under-21s against Leicester on Friday afternoon.

The Manchester Evening News understands N'Mai, who has just celebrated his 19th birthday, started on the left wing against Leicester at Carrington. He's also the second player from Class of '92-owned Salford to trial this week.

The winger was born in the Netherlands but relocated to England with his family as a child. N'Mai has previously been in the academies of both United and Manchester City, but he eventually joined Salford's youth set-up.

He's made multiple first-team appearances for Salford and he became the first academy player to play a league game for the club in November 2021.

N'Mai is currently on loan at Chester until the end of the season but he's still permitted to trial with United during that period.

Salford defender Jacob Lara is also being considered in the academy after his trial on Tuesday. Lara started for Travis Binnion's U18 side as they drew 1-1 with Everton in a tight game in the Premier League North and he made a good number of blocks.

The U18s have just one game remaining this season and they'll reoppose Everton on Saturday 6 May, which Lara could feature in.
