Manchester United warned about potential danger with James Garner's future
Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker believes James Garner might consider leaving Old Trafford this summer if he is not granted regular game time upon his return from Nottingham Forest.
The central-midfielder joined Forest for a second time back in August, signing on a season-long loan deal. In a season that has seen the Championship club rise from the bottom of the table to become play-off contender under Steve Cooper, the United youngster has played a formidable role.
Adored by the Forest's supporters, Garner — who also played a key role in helping Cooper's side reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, stunning Arsenal and Leicester en route — has scored three goals and claimed six assists in 36 appearances in all competitions. He has also proven to be the heartbeat of the team, forming a strong midfield partnership with Ryan Yates.

But while Garner's immediate priority is to help Forest push for promotion this season, he has long-term aspirations of becoming a regular at Old Trafford. As revealed by the Manchester Evening News last month, the England Under-21 international has set his sights on the first-team setup next term and could benefit from a likely midfield upheaval.
However, former United defender Parker has warned the club that Garner's appetite for playing regularly at Forest could convince him to leave Old Trafford if regular chances are not forthcoming. Nevertheless, pre-season and who becomes United's next manager could dictate Garner's future.
"If he's got that about him, and he thinks he's better than what United have got at the moment and he deserves an opportunity, then he's got to turn around and say that's
