Manchester United vs Man City FA Cup final kick-off time confirmed

The FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City will kick off at 3pm.

The FA has finally confirmed the kick-off time for the first Manchester derby FA Cup final, which will take place a week on from the conclusion of the Premier League season on June 3, after taking time to reach the decision due to the special circumstances of the match. As United and City is such a fierce rivalry, the game has been deemed a high-risk fixture and talks have been held over logistics of the event between the FA and the Metropolitan Police throughout the week.

An official statement from the FA said: "The 2022-23 Emirates FA Cup final between Manchester City and rivals Manchester United will kick off at 3pm.

"The first FA Cup final between the Manchester clubs will take place on Saturday 3 June at Wembley Stadium connected by EE.

"The match will be broadcast in the UK on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, ITV, ITVX, UTV, STV and STV Player.

"Winning and losing clubs in the final will receive £2 million and £1 million respectively from the competition’s prize fund.

"More details on the FA Cup final will be released in due course."

It's the first time the showpiece of the domestic calendar will kick off at the traditional time of 3pm since 2011. An earlier kick-off time was favoured by the police after violent scenes tarnished the final of Euro 2020 between England and Italy, which kicked off at 8pm. The FA also wanted the match to begin no later than 4:45pm to help the thousands of fans travelling to London from the North West.

Last year's final between Liverpool and Chelsea kicked off at 5pm and the match has even gotten underway as late as 5:30pm in recent years.
