Manchester United unsung hero played vital role in Nottingham Forest win that can't be forgotten

It was on Manchester United's last trip to the Midlands that they won a game when Scott McTominay headed in from a brilliant Diogo Dalot cross into the box.

Only a matter of minutes into their trip to face Nottingham Forest last night, they almost replicated that Villa Park move. The only thing missing was the finish as McTominay headed straight at Matt Turner instead.

In the absence of Rasmus Hojlund, the Scotland international has taken on even more importance in the United side, evident in the fact he is starting games again rather than being used simply as an impact substitute.

He remains a priceless asset to a team lacking an obvious centre-forward, but just as important to their hopes will be the creative threat of Dalot from the right-back role.

It was after that win at Villa Park that the Portuguese signalled his intent to add more goal contributions to his game and he deserves credit for doing just that already this season. Two goals and three assists so far this campaign is not exactly staggering, but it is certainly a step in the right direction for a United side who have often lacked that attacking threat from their right-backs.

If not for a superb stop from Turner, he could have had another assist before half time too. This time he held the ball brilliantly on the edge of the box and spun away from a defender, before delivering a delicious low ball into the near post that McTominay headed at goal.
