Manchester United transfer news RECAP as youngster readied for contract talks amid injury boost

Manchester United plan to hold talks with Hannibal Mejbri in a bid to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

The 20-year-old becomes a free agent next summer - although United are likely to trigger his one-year extension clause, which keeps him at Old Trafford until 2025.

United will return to Old Trafford on Tuesday as they begin their defence of the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace. United defeated Newcastle in February's final to end their six-and-a-half-year wait to finally win a trophy.

In positive injury news, Mason Mount and Harry Maguire back in contention for the clash against Palace. There has also been a boost elsewhere as Raphael Varane and Sofyan Amrabat returned to the field at Turf Moor.

Amrabat could make his first start on Tuesday while Jonny Evans could get the nod again after his brilliant display against Burnley. Facundo Pellistri could also come back into the side, while Hannibal may retain his place.
