Ruben Amorim joked that Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe offered him a new contract when he visited the club's training complex on Thursday.

Amorim held a routine meeting with Ratcliffe at Carrington ahead of the Premier League visit of Chelsea on Saturday with United 14th in the Premier League table after two defeats from their first four league games.

Ratcliffe has been defensive of Amorim's record at United, claiming in March that the Portuguese was doing "a great job". Amorim has won only eight of his 31 Premier League games in charge.
