However, the biggest talking point may be Cristiano Ronaldo's early exit down the tunnel. The superstar failed to come off the bench and was seen heading to the dressing room shortly before full-time.

Ronaldo handed in a transfer request over the summer and the incident will only fuel speculation that a January departure could be on the cards.

United manager Erik ten Hag insisted that he would 'deal' with Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday after the 37-year-old walked down the tunnel before the full-time whistle against Tottenham last night.

Ronaldo headed for the tunnel in the 87th minute after realsing that Ten Hag was not going to send him on, despite being able to make two more substitutions.

"Yeah, I don't pay attention to that, we deal with that tomorrow," Ten Hag said. "We want to focus on this team, it was a magnificent performance from all 11 players.
