Manchester United transfer news LIVE Man Utd vs Wolves early team news plus midfielder hunt latest

The day has finally arrived. Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign tonight as Erik ten Hag's side welcome Wolves to Old Trafford.

United will be hoping to get off to a much better start than they managed last season. Ten Hag's first two league games in the dugout saw the Reds lose to both Brighton and Brentford, with the latter a particularly chastening experience.

United won't be able to offer a debut to new signing Rasmus Hojlund this evening after the Dane picked up an injury in pre-season with Atalanta, though the issue is not thought to be serious.

The loss of Hojlund means United's preparations for the game haven't totally gone to plan, though they're in far better shape than this evening's visitors. Wolves parted company with Julen Lopetegui last week, with Gary O'Neil drafted in just days before the start of the campaign. The new boss has admitted his players aren't quite at the level he'd hoped in terms of fitness, so United have a great chance to get three points on the board early on.

Away from tonight's action, Ten Hag continues to scour the market for midfield reinforcements. The club confirmed on Sunday Fred had completed his move to Fenerbahce, and Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has now been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
