Manchester United will be waking up this morning feeling relieved that they have escaped an embarrassing result against Omonia for the second time in a week.

Scott McTominay's winner ensured they gained maximum points once again to keep up the pace with group leaders Real Sociedad. Cristiano Ronaldo was leading the line in his fifth start of the season on the night.

He was left frustrated after being unable to find the net in 180 minutes against Omonia, his tally for the season remaining at two. His future is still in the balance ahead of the January transfer window.

United are reportedly set to hand Erik ten Hag a reduced spending budget in the new year, and so with Anthony Martial proving unreliable due to persistent injuries, the Reds boss may make a stand to keep Ronaldo until the end of the season.
