Manchester United are close to sealing their third signing of the window in Lisandro Martinez.

The defender has flown to England to complete a £46m switch from Ajax. He is due to pen a five-year deal worth £120,000-a-week.

It would be Erik ten Hag's second defensive signing of the summer following Tyrell Malacia's arrival prior to Christian Eriksen's acquisition, which was confirmed on Friday.

Meanwhile, United's pursuit of Frenkie de Jong rolls on. He has been included in Barcelona's pre-season squad ahead of their trip to the USA.

He remains Erik ten Hag's top summer target after a deal in principle was agreed. However, a major stumbling block seems to be his dispute with Barcelona over deferred wages that are thought to amount to £17m.

Barcelona have named Frenkie de Jong in their pre-season tour squad of the United States with Manchester United into a tenth week of discussions to sign the midfielder.

New United manager Erik ten Hag has identified De Jong, 25, as his priority target and United are persisting with a player who has publicly expressed his desire to stay at Barcelona.
