Manchester United to debut training kit inspired by local connection vs Wolves in Premier League

Manchester United’s players will be wearing the club’s new pre match warm-up kits when they take to the Old Trafford turf for tonight's Premier League opener against Wolves.

The new shirts and training tops have a red and black design and will be worn by United’s stars prior to all matches. Following on from the third kit launch, which made plenty of references to the club’s Red Devils nickname, the warm-up shirt sports a design which further represents this theme.

The red pattern on a black background is reminiscent of lava, a nod to the Red Devil that emblazons the club’s badge. The new kit will be worn throughout the new season and is available for purchase through the official Manchester United store here.

In the official store, the kit is described, with reference to United’s connections with the county of Lancashire: “Show your team's colours with pride in the Manchester United Pre-Match Jersey.

“Sporting the shade that the Red Devils are famous for, this jersey is designed to ignite high-energy performances pre-game. The jersey's glitched graphic seamlessly combines the legendary red devil of Manchester United with Lancashire's iconic red rose.”

The shirt has already been worn during pre-season, with United’s players wearing both the long and short sleeve variants throughout their preparations for the new campaign. This was on show throughout the European leg of the pre-season tour before being worn in the US and in the friendly at Old Trafford, against Lens.

With Wolves the visitors to Old Trafford, United’s warm-up kit will be front and centre on Monday Night Football, part of Sky Sports’ coverage of the new season.

You can watch the game live on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports. Kick-off is set for 8pm and
