Manchester United takeover latest: Deal timeframe outlined amid second bid suggestion

It looks set to be another big week in the race to take over Manchester United.

The deal moved to the second stage of the process in the last seven days as a delegation representing Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani’s Nine Two Foundation visited Old Trafford on Thursday for face-to-face discussions with the United hierarchy. Chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough were among those in attendance.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe then also arrived alongside other INEOS representatives on Friday for similar meetings. As such, the coming days could prove vital and with that in mind, here is a look at the latest United takeover headlines.

Deal to be done 'ahead of summer'

Fabrizio Romano is expecting Manchester United's takeover to be completed 'ahead of the summer transfer window'. Speaking on the House of Champions YouTube channel, Romano offered a positive update for United supporters and believes a conclusion could be reached in the coming weeks.

He said: “This is the race: INEOS group [and] Qatari group, and it will be decided in the next weeks, months. But I think the positive news for Manchester United is that things are happening now – so ahead of the summer transfer window. It could help the club to have a clear strategy in the summer, a new owner ahead of the summer.”

Second bid this week

Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solhekol says Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani will submit a second bid for Manchester United this week. Sheikh Jassim is one of two parties in the second stage of the process and is looking to move forward with a deal in the coming days.
