Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) has said its members would like to have seen Sir Jim Ratcliffe take a larger stake at the club following the announcement of the INEOS chairman's investment in the club.
In a statement issued following the news, the group questioned the decision-making structure of the club, following confirmation that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will control footballing matters despite only taking a minority stake in the club. Confirmation of Ratcliffe's investment into United came on Sunday evening, more than 13 months since the Glazers announced plans for a strategic review. The INEOS chief will invest around £1.3billion into the club in return for a 25 per cent stake.
Despite being a minority shareholder, Ratcliffe will take control of footballing operations at United including making major decisions on transfers, the future of manager Erik ten Hag and hires for roles such as sporting director and chief executive. And while MUST says it welcomes the new investment, the group has demanded clarity on how the unusual structure will work.

"During 18 years of debt, decay and mismanagement, Manchester United fans have loudly and consistently called for change at our club," a statement from MUST read. "When the so-called Strategic Review was announced nearly a year ago, it finally appeared that the sale of the club was on the horizon, potentially bringing the new investment and new direction MUFC so clearly needs.
