Manchester United star Jadon Sancho sends classy message to former Man City player Romeo Lavia

Jadon Sancho sent a nice message to ex-Manchester City midfielder Romeo Lavia in a ‘then vs now’ post on Instagram.

The Manchester United winger came up against Lavia in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s. The 18-year-old left City’s academy this summer to secure first-team football on the South Coast after playing two senior games for Pep Guardiola.

Lavia has started all four of Southampton’s games this season, playing the full 90 minutes in each one. Fans have been impressed by his performances, and it seems his self-belief goes back a number of years.

The player shared a 2017 photograph of him next to Sancho, holding his Borussia Dortmund No.7 shirt. Underneath, he inserted a photo from Saturday of himself duelling with the England international on the pitch.

Former City academy product Sancho re-shared this to his own story, writing: “Five years later. You stuck to your dream and believed in yourself, that’s so inspiring to see. Keep doing your thing bro, the world is at your feet. Very special player.”

Sancho had a promising outing himself against Liverpool five days earlier. The 22-year-old netted a sumptuous opening goal to open his account for the season.

He will be hoping to exceed the five goals and three assists he recorded in an underwhelming debut campaign at Old Trafford. Sancho has started every game under Erik ten Hag this season, and is being backed as one of the players to lead the rebuild at the club.

Lavia, meanwhile, scored his first goal for Southampton in their 2-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday night.
